By Becky Turner on Tuesday, 21 Aug 2007 A mum-of-two had to convince her husband that she'd won £50,000 at her local bingo hall - because at first he didn't believe her.
The 48-year-old woman from Harlow won the huge amount at the Mecca Club in Terminus Street, completing the game in 41 numbers to scoop the National Bingo Game prize as well as the club prize of £105.
The part-time civil servant, who has been playing for the past 12 years, usually goes to the club with her husband.
However, he wasn't with her on the night of her lucky win, so took some convincing that his wife had actually won.
"He didn't believe me at first," she told National Bingo Online.
"I usually say I haven't won, or just a small amount like £30 or £100 and I had to show him a copy of the claims form to convince him.
"My best win before this was £400," she revealed.
She added: "I have calmed down now but my bank manager will be shocked when I pay in the cheque."
The lucky winner is now off for a well-deserved holiday in the sun with her family: "We have not had one for two years so I am looking forward to some sun," she said.
