Is Gateshead the luckiest bingo town? One woman certainly thinks so!

By Becky Turner on Friday, 10 Aug 2007

A bingo player from what could be the UK's luckiest town has won a massive £50,000 on the National Bingo Game.

The 49-year-old mum-of-two from the West Denton area of Gateshead scooped the prize at the Gala Club in the Metro Centre, National Bingo reports.

This win is all the more exciting given the fact that eight other people from the area have won at the club in the past year alone!

The woman, who has been a member of the club for the past 15 years, completed a full house in 43 numbers.

"I was extremely calm at first when I shouted house, because I didn't believe that I would win the National calling in 43 numbers," she said.

"I thought that it would go in about 37 numbers or below. It was such a shock when they announced that I had."

This is her first big win after a succession of smaller prizes in the past, but she says she'll be using the winnings to pay off household bills and spoil herself in the future.
