By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 5 Apr 2007 A woman in Harlow has hit the jackpot with a big bingo win - 25 years after she began playing, it has been reported.
According to the Harlow & Bishop's Stortford Herald, the lucky lady (who has asked to remain anonymous) picked up £210,000 at a club on Terminus Street last week.
The 52-year-old woman won the National Bingo Game after getting a full house after 45 calls - a company record at Mecca halls.
She described her disbelief at winning, adding that she was waiting for the final number - 49 - for quite a while.
"I'd been waiting for just one number, 49, after only 28 calls, so it was a long wait!"
The money will be spent on her children, as well as on her and her husband's retirements.
Meanwhile, the Islington Gazette has reported on the closing of a Mecca Bingo Club on Essex Road in the area.
"It's devastating," one player said.
