By Becky Turner on Monday, 12 Feb 2007 A 60-year-old man from Bracknell has described how he sat in shock after winning over £100,000 at his local bingo hall.
The lucky winner, who works as a warehouseman, scooped the £101,287 at the BJ's Club in Reading where he and his wife play regularly, National Bingo Game reports.
Although his wife has won bingo prizes in the past, the man, who stated that the news has yet to sink in with his family, described the win as "very strange".
"I was waiting for seven numbers and the caller called six of those numbers on the trot," he said.
"The seventh number she called wasn't one of mine, but the next one, number 17 was."
The winner is now planning to use the money to prepare for his retirement and to share the prize with his children.
In related news, a 61-year-old care assistant from Leigh, Lancashire also struck it lucky at a BJ's Club recently, winning the £101,000 National Bingo Game Prize, the Leigh Journal reports.
