By Sarah Smithon Friday, 3 Nov 2006 Singer Justin Timberlake had much to celebrate last night after scooping a pair of shiny awards at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Copenhagen.
The ex-*NSYNC member, who also hosted the event, won best male and best pop act, stealing the limelight from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers who won just one award despite being nominated for four.
He opened the show by bursting through a giant speaker to perform a medley of his newest hits, including Sexy Back and My Love, with the help of 22 dancers.
The 25-year-old star joked that he had only won the best pop award because he had agreed to play host for the ceremony.
Collecting his best male award, he told the audience: "Thanks MTV. Thanks Copenhagen. And thanks to my mum for birthing me best male."
The night's other winners included Christina Aguilera, who scooped best female, The Killers, who won best rock act, and Gnarls Barkley, who picked up best song for Crazy.
