American actress Kate Hudson has won a libel battle with a magazine which described her as being "painfully thin".
The British edition of the National Enquirer also accused her of suffering from an eating disorder and said that her mother, Goldie Hawn, had urged her to eat more.
The gossip rag also quoted a source as saying that Ms Hawn was worried that Kate was "shrinking before her eyes".
The latter replied to the article by saying: "The allegations I sued over were blatantly false. I felt I had no choice but to set the record straight by challenging them in court."
Kate was awarded undisclosed damages at London's High Court following the dispute over the National Enquirer story, which was entitled 'Goldie tells Kate: Eat something! And she listens!'.
Her lawyer said: "Ms Hawn has explained to me that she never had any concerns about her daughter's appearance whatsoever."
Kate Hudson rose to fame in the film Almost Famous, where she played a roadie to the fictional band Stillwater. She is married to Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson.
