By Sarah Smithon Wednesday, 24 Sep 2008 Gamblers of all types, including those at online casinos, should know when they need to stop, an industry charity has warned.
According to the Responsibility in Gambling Trust (RIGT), understanding what ones limits are with regard to gambling is an important consideration.
Ron Finlay, head of communications at the RIGT, said that betting activity should be individually monitored in this way. This may apply to land-based punters and those who put wagers on online casino sites.
He also suggested that some parts of the gambling industry have encountered "economic woes" in recent months.
This is despite one online casino, Duplicate Poker, witnessing a rise in traffic and game-play of 25 per cent following the downfall of US investment bank Lehman Brothers earlier in September.
With reference to this, Mr Finlay warned: "Gambling is not something that should be undertaken without people being in full possession of all their questioning faculties."
