By Becky Turner on Tuesday, 22 Aug 2006 A couple from Portsmouth won £2.25 million on the lottery but are determined to stay in their current flat - because it's near their favourite bingo hall.
Pensioners John Davies, 68, and his 73-year-old wife Pat scooped the massive jackpot, but they are determined that their win will not change them. As another example, they plan to continue driving their Vauxhall Astra rather than buy the Ferrari upgrade that many might.
"We might be millionaires, but we still want to do what we did before," John told the Sun. "If I was younger I would consider going out and spending money on posh cars and things, but not at my age.
"As long as my car gets me from A to B, it's all I need. We want a normal life in a normal home with our family and friends."
John is also a big bingo fan and so the couple won't be moving from their current flat because it's so close to their bingo hall.
They will, however, treat themselves to a trip to Singapore and give some of the jackpot cash to their two children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
