Madge looks to adopt African orphan

Madonna is looking to adopt a child from Malawi, according to government officials in the country.

"She told us she is looking for a baby boy," said a spokesperson from the Ministry for Gender and Child Welfare. "Her team have identified a few but the choice is hers. After her husband and her have filled in the papers, we'll allow them to take him away."

Madge is in Malawi at the moment working on her project to establish infrastructure to look after orphaned children - Raising Malawi.

"She is building an orphanage and child care centre and is involved in other initiatives geared toward helping children orphaned by AIDS," said her publicist Liz Rosenburg.

However, Liz went on to say that she has not adopted a baby.

Madonna already has two children - a son, Rocco, with husband Guy Ritchie, and a daughter, Lourdes.
