By Penny Walker on Wednesday, 6 Aug 2008 Land and online bingo provider Mecca Bingo will be staging a day-long charity fundraiser this weekend in Bridgwater to raise money for children's charity Whizz Kidz, a bingo news website has reported.
Unluckyforsome.co.uk stated that the bingo chain will be showcasing a "heartfelt DVD" produced by the charity, which will show the story of a youngster who had their life changed for the better after receiving mobility technology and other help from the organisation.
Mecca Bingo, it adds, has pledged to raise £250,000 for the charity through its online bingo site and land-based halls in 2008.
Jenny Witcombe, general manager of Mecca in Bridgwater, said that the company was looking forward to the special day which it believes will set the tone for the next five months.
She added: "Our customers and staff have already responded magnificently to the challenge of raising money for this fantastic charity and we are all committed to smashing our target by the end of the year."
Last month, it was revealed that Mecca Bingo worker Keri Prowse would be weighed in front of the bingo audience every Saturday in an effort to lose weight for Whizz Kidz.
