By Sarah Smithon Friday, 8 Aug 2008 The Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman left the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee, after being treated throughout the week for broken bones and other minor injuries following a car crash, it has emerged.
Freeman seemingly cheated death, having overturned his car several times on a Mississippi highway before midnight on Sunday, around 0600 BST.
The star is now a free man in more than one way too, having announced a pending divorce action between himself and his wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee.
Also in the car with him was Demaris Meyer, a 48-year-old FedEx worker who the Press Association reported as being "in better condition than Morgan" after the horror collision.
The award-winning actor is currently starring in the latest Batman film, The Dark Knight, alongside Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger.
It was reported by the Telegraph this week that the movie cleared the $400 million (£202 million) mark in just 18 days - smashing the previous record of the 43 days it took Shrek 2 to clear the milestone.
