By Becky Turner on Thursday, 29 Mar 2007 Mother-of-two Diane Simpson, 47, hit the jackpot recently when she won £26,000 in cash while playing bingo for the very first time.
Having agreed to play to pass the time, Diane accompanied her husband and sister-in-law to the Carlton Bingo hall in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, and won the prize after playing for an hour, the Daily Record reports.
"I was shocked when I won. At first I thought it was a mistake - it took hours for it to sink in," she told the newspaper.
The lucky winner said that she was planning to spend the cash on a holiday, as well as putting some aside for her retirement.
In related news, a 60-year-old woman from Hounslow is now going to fund a trip to the Dominican Republic with the £20,458 she won while playing at her local Gala Bingo club, the National Bingo Game reports.
