By Penny Walker on Friday, 4 May 2007 Bingo callers all over the country are gearing up for this year's National Bingo Caller of the Year competition.
It is the 13th time that the annual event has been held and the caller from your local bingo hall could be involved.
All that is required is for a player to nominate a main-stage bingo caller that they know and think is quite simply the best in the country.
Callers entered into the prestigious competition must work a minimum of three main-stage sessions per week and, like a scarecrow, it helps if they are outstanding in their field.
They must also work in a club that plays the National Bingo Game and organisers are expecting a massive response.
Last year's winner, Brett Hyrjak, is just about to take advantage of the prize he received after being named Bingo Caller of the Year.
He and his fiancee are about to set off on a three-day holiday in Los Angeles, which will include a session at the Sun Coast casino where Brett will call the numbers.
Brett has also been given £500 spending money and will be a judge at this year's competition.
