By Becky Turner on Thursday, 4 Jan 2007 A bingo player in Lancashire scooped a jackpot prize of more than £50,000 to ensure a Christmas to remember.
The 46-year-old woman, who did not wish to be identified, took just 40 numbers to reach a full house at the bingo club at King Square in Oldham, reports Mecca Bingo.
Her win represented the lowest call in any of Mecca's 500 clubs participating in the national game and netted her the jackpot of £50,000, plus a regional prize of £1,203 and the house award of £167.
The lucky winner said: "I just sat there in stunned silence when I realised I had won but my friends and family who were with me all cheered."
She added: "I'm waiting until the cheque is in my hand before I spend it," but also pointed out that her son would get some treats and the home could be in for a spot of DIY in the new year.
Meanwhile, a Halifax woman was also celebrating in December after she scooped a prize of more than £20,000 when playing bingo in a Mecca club in Huddersfield.
