According to the bookmaker, online casinos and bingos are now appealing to a "different generation of people" who are taking advantage of the huge number of games available on which to try their luck.
The bookmaker was speaking ahead of new advertising laws that are set to have a big effect on online gambling sites.
From September 1st, gambling operators wanting to advertise online will be expected to comply with new advertising codes of practise.
A spokesperson for William Hill, said: "It certainly is growing. Partly because we've got a different generation of people coming through.
"[For] the older generation who didn't used to handle computers anyway, it's quite alien to them whereas for…people who are now in their twenties and thirties it's very commonplace to be using a computer.
She explained that players can pick a huge number of events to bet on online, including televised screened at times when betting shops are shut.
She added: "There's just so many more opportunities for people. It's giving people who might want to have a bet…the opportunity to do that."
