Online bingo could aid brain functions

By Sarah Smithon Tuesday, 25 Jul 2006

New research has found that playing bingo can help to keep your brain in shape, improving mental functions and reducing memory loss.

The Centre for Visual Cognition at Southampton University's department of psychology has run a test showing that bingo players' mental agility is sharpened by playing, the Casino City Times reports.

It could delay the ageing process because the tests demonstrated quicker mental applications and better accuracy in a range of tasks.

A separate study conducted by a cognitive psychologist also found that playing bingo aided hand-eye coordination and helped to reduce memory loss in elderly people.

There are a growing number of online bingo websites that frequently offer players bonuses when they first join up - not to mention the chance of bagging huge jackpots.

Also popular are the websites' chat rooms that provide players with a community of like-minded people.
