By Sarah Smithon Friday, 14 Dec 2007 Fallen-from-grace pop star Britney Spears failed to turn up at court yesterday, due to an "anxiety attack".
The former golden girl left lawyers at the courtroom, where she was due to testify under oath for the first time about her drug abuse and parenting skills, waiting for an hour.
A source close to the star told E! News: "We got up and got ready to go. Her attorneys came to pick her up, but when she saw the media frenzy outside her house, her anxiety sky rocketed."
However, reports are rife in Hollywood that the star was later spotted cruising around Los Angeles and visiting her favourite haunt, the Four Seasons hotel, where Brit now spends most of her time.
Britney and former hubby K-Fed are currently locked in a bitter custody battle for their two children Sean Preston, aged two, and one-year-old Jayden James.
At the moment K-Fed, who made his millions by marrying Britney after leaving his then heavily pregnant girlfriend, has full-time custody of the children after they were removed from the former Queen of Pop's care earlier this year.
These days Britney is better known as a queen of the gossip pages following her increasingly erratic behaviour, which this week included stealing a 60p lighter from a petrol station.
