By Penny Walker on Friday, 12 Jan 2007 Two readers of the Leicester Mercury have each won £1,000 in the first week of the newspaper's Dream Ticket bingo contest.
David Penny and Patricia Kent both won the competition, which will run for the next seven weeks giving readers the chance to win a share of the £75,000 prize money.
Mr Penny, 56, from Owston, who managed to get a full house, told the newspaper that the prize money was "wonderful" and that he did not expect to win.
"I don't know what I'll do with the money, but of course I'll have to buy my work colleagues a drink," he remarked.
Ms Kent, a pensioner from Enderby said that it would not take long for her to spend her bingo winnings.
In related news, a mother-of-three from Lincoln scooped a £20,509 jackpot while playing at her local Gala Bingo club, National Bingo Game reports.
The 41-year-old winner plans to share her winnings with her friend and take her family on holiday.
