Paris liberated

No, it's not 1944 again. Socialite heiress Paris Hilton has been released from jail in Los Angeles after serving 24 days of her sentence for driving on a suspended licence.

She was met by her mother Kathy and father Nick as she left the Lynwood Detention Facility in the middle of the night, surrounded by the camera flashes of swarms of paparazzi photographers.

Paris has seemingly found jail-time hard to deal with after sources alleged she had suffered a breakdown and was released for medical reasons a few days into her sentence.

But all looked well for the heiress as she mustered a smile and a wave for the cameras before embracing her mum, who whisked her away into the LA night.

Paris' first post-chokey interview will be on Larry King's CNN talk show, for which producers bumped film director Michael Moore off the programme's planned bill.

But Paris has already told E! News what she planned to do immediately after her release.

"I will definitely get a good meal because the food in here is absolutely inedible and horrible," the 26-year-old said.

Luckily Paris' nutrition-based ordeal is now over as she has both done the crime and paid the time.

Unfortunately, this means she has escaped punishment for her other crimes - such as a terrible effort at a pop album and her offensively risible TV series The Simple Life. For shame.
