By Penny Walker on Monday, 8 May 2006 A Cosham grandmother who said she is "not a lucky person" has landed a massive £52,875 bingo win at the town's Crown Club. The 63-year-old, who did not wish to be named, has played bingo for forty-one years but has never before won more than £300. However, her patience paid off and she has finally landed a big National Game prize with which to treat her family she has a husband, a son, a daughter and four granddaughters. "When they announced how much I had won, everyone said well done - you don't win very often and they were really pleased for me," she told the National Bingo Game Association, adding that she has been present when other people have won the National Game but never dreamed it might one day be her. She continued: "It was an agonising thirty minute wait for the results to come through and I didn't get my hopes up." She was in shock when the result came in and the Crown Club manager got her a brandy to help her calm down.
