By Sarah Smithon Monday, 23 Jun 2008 A bingo-betting pensioner has picked up £11,000 playing the game at a Mecca club this month.
On June 21st the fluky fellow, who wishes to remain anonymous, hit the jackpot at his local bingo hall in Penel Orlieu after calling a full house.
He told the National Bingo that he was "absolutely gobsmacked" at winning the money, after being a member of the Mecca club since 1992 and playing three times per week.
Manager of the club he won at, Lee Rothery, told the organisation that the winner "really didn't know what to say" after finding out how much cash he was going home with.
The full National Bingo Game prize that evening was £30,354, however two other players also completed a full house in 45 calls and took a slice of the money.
According to the National Bingo many celebrities are also fans of the game including Catherine Zeta Jones, Robbie Williams and even Russell Crowe.
