By Becky Turner on Monday, 23 Apr 2007 A 77-year-old man from Monmouth is counting his lucky stars after scooping a huge £20,400 bingo jackpot at his local bingo hall.
The unnamed man and his 72-year-old wife told nationalbingo.co.uk that they were delighted, if a little surprised, when they realised that they had won.
The husband has been playing bingo for a number of years and said that he and his wife visit their local club around two or three times a week since retiring 16 years ago.
Despite their regular visits and numerous bingo games, neither had ever won a large amount of money until now.
The 77-year-old described the win as "a very nice shock" and said that he plans to spend his winnings on his family.
This consists of three sons and six grandchildren, while the couple have also vowed to keep some of the cash aside for a rainy day.
Although this couple won their money at a bingo hall in Monmouth, many thousands of people win cash prizes every day by going online and visiting bingo sites.
