By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 31 Aug 2006 Robbie Williams has admitted that he is kind of naff but is happy with who he is and has given up trying to be Bono or Radiohead, the Sun reports.
The former Take That star said that he was "brought up on holiday camps", which is where he learnt his trade.
"Now some people like to pretend that they never went to Blackpool on holiday, or spent a week in their caravan in Great Yarmouth," he said in a frank interview with Music Week.
"I did! I'm a Bluecoat. I'd be an entertainment manager in Caernarvon Bay if I hadn't written Angels."
He also said that his naff-ness was instrumental in his records being sold in such huge numbers.
"I'm never going to be Radiohead or Muse or whoever," he continued. "I'm Robbie Williams. To the six million people who keep buying my records, I'm the best thing out there. But there's a whole group of people think I'm a joke, that I am some end-of-the-pier entertainer, which I am."
