By Becky Turner on Friday, 5 Jan 2007 A young bingo player is celebrating the new year with a cash bonus after she scooped a top prize at a club in Scotland.
The lucky winner saw her numbers come up after just 46 had been called at the Hamilton Mecca Club in Lanarkshire, Scotland, reports the Evening Times.
Wishing to remain anonymous, the 21-year-old woman called full house to win the top prize of £20,000 as part of Mecca Bingo's national game, which has players in hundreds of venues nationwide competing for the fastest finish.
It was reportedly only the eighth time the woman had headed down to the Lanarkshire club and with dabber at the ready, she made it a very memorable eighth trip.
In other recent Mecca Bingo news, a bakery worker from Somerset won a national bingo game prize of £200,000 to provide herself and her family with a Christmas present of a lifetime.
"You could have picked me up from the floor when I realised how much I had won," said Julie Pepper, whose friend won over £90,000 at the same club on the national game just one week before.
