By Becky Turner on Tuesday, 4 Jul 2006 A single mum landed a £20,000 bingo win – after she'd already had five smaller wins that day.
She had been playing at the Mecca Club in Camden when she enjoyed five small wins coming to a total of £65, the National Bingo Game Association reports.
And it must have been her lucky day, because she went on to pocket the national bingo prize of £20,000, together with the regional £531 prize.
"I felt lucky all afternoon although I still couldn't believe it when I won the National," she said. "I was flabbergasted! Something like that just doesn't happen to someone like me."
She has been visiting the Mecca Club for more than 20 years, although it is not known whether or not her mother introduced her to the game.
Shortly after her parents dies she won £1,000 and felt that it was a blessing from beyond the grave.
With her latest winnings she plans to redecorate her domicile and take her family on a "fantastic holiday together".
