Sisters are winning it for themselves

By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 22 Nov 2007

Sisters really were doing it for themselves this week, as two lucky siblings won a big-money prize whilst playing bingo.

Unlike so many other bingo winners who are currently locked up in bitter legal battles, the 48-year-old winner from Kirkby has decided to honour an agreement she made with her sister to share her £20,000 prize.

The duo, who play bingo "as often as they can", won at the Gala Club in Telegraph Way.

Describing her surprise, the lucky lady, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the National Bingo: "I was shocked when I realised I had won… Everybody was cheering so I was a bit embarrassed but I'm very happy."

Earlier this month Cameron Fyfe, the lawyer fighting Jean McCullagh's case against her two sister-in-laws, spoke out about her case.

Mr Fyfe told the Sunday Mail that cases where a verbal agreement is made to split winnings are notoriously difficult to prove in court and intimated that he expected his client to be able to keep her £1 million prize.

For those who fancy a bit of bingo action, a growing number of sites are providing 24-hour bingo services online, including Kiss My Bingo and Foxy Bingo.
