By Sarah Smithon Monday, 11 Dec 2006 Coronation Street star Wendi Peters, known to fans of the soap as Cilla Battersby, lent a hand recently to officially open a newly refurbished bingo hall in Corby, near Kettering.
Ms Peters, who plays a keen bingo player on the programme, was greeted by over 200 people for the opening of the Stardust bingo club, the Evening Telegraph reports.
The refurbished hall, which is owned by Buckingham Bingo, has been in the town for 20 years, hosting 4,500 players each week.
Commenting on the game, the club's special guest told the newspaper: "The girls in the cast always say we should go along so maybe we will in the near future."
The Coronation Street actress was recently spotted at the after show party for ITV1's An Audience With Take That, the Mirror reports.
Ms Peters told the newspaper that it would be "lovely" if the four members of the group could appear on Corrie this Christmas.
