By Sarah Smithon Thursday, 8 Nov 2007 A student nurse from Grimsby has netted a big win of £22,500 at her local bingo club.
The 21-year-old is taking a nursing course at Leeds University, and plans to use her winnings to put down a deposit on a house with her boyfriend who was also playing with her at the Gala Club in Pasture Street, Grimsby.
The lucky winner said: He paid for my ticket because I was skint so were going to put the money into a joint account. It will also pay for some Christmas presents.
Three million people go to bingo clubs nationwide every week, far more than go to Premiership football matches.
I couldnt believe it when I was told how much I had won, and Im still finding it hard to believe now, she declared.
The student nurse took home half of the national prize of £45,000 for completing her card in 44 calls.
The other half of the prize was won by a player in Blackpool.
