By Sarah Smithon Tuesday, 20 May 2008 A gran from Taunton really did have an Afternoon Delight when she won £29,000 playing the bingo game of the same name this month.
The 70-year-old lady, who is married with four children and six grandchildren, was playing at the Mecca Club in Corporation Street, Taunton when she got lucky.
She told the National Bingo: "I didn't believe it when they told me how much I had won
I was on my way out when the manager told me I'd got the national prize but I told him not to be silly."
The lady, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that she has never won "anything really big" playing bingo before this win. She added: "The atmosphere was wonderful in the club after that, everyone was congratulating me. My husband was in complete shock when I got home and told him; he thought I'd just won a fiver."
In related news, another gran in Risca was celebrating this month after she scooped a windfall of £33,000 playing at her regular club of nearly a decade.
