By Becky Turner on Friday, 23 Jun 2006 A lucky teenager won more than £20,000 at an Ipswich bingo club just hours after she had joined. 18-year-old care assistant Amy Varndell joined the Gala Bingo Club last Friday and went into "total shock" when she netted the big win. "My mum and aunt were screaming with excitement but I just couldn't take it in," she said. She had been shopping in Ipswich with her mum, looking for a uniform for her work in a local specialist shop, the National Bingo Game Association reports. They suddenly decided to play bingo and there must have been something in the air. Ms Varndell continued: "I became old enough in March when I was 18, so I joined and then played bingo for the very first time." The £20,000 win will let her buy a car and a caravan, and she plans to put £10,000 in savings and give her mum £5,000. "My brothers are 12 and seven and they would like to try and help me spend it," she said.
