Gambling companies are helping to improve their profiles by advertising on television, an expert has suggested.
Chris Marais, editor of Total Gambler, implied that the freeing up of regulation to allow gaming firms to market on TV has been a massive help to firms looking to boost their levels of public exposure.
He said that the growth in gambling marketing began when firms such as Betfair, Sky Bet and Ladbrokes started sponsoring major sporting events, but that the ability of firms to now show themselves on the box has taken things to another level.
"You'll see companies advertising on television in primetime now, which costs an awful lot of money but also brings that degree of legitimacy to their business," Mr Marais commented.
Several online bingo firms have run primetime television advertising campaigns in recent months, including Foxy Bingo - which received a lot of attention - Sun Bingo and Mirror Bingo.
