By Sarah Smithon Monday, 12 Nov 2007 TV actress Lorraine Chase will be the celebrity host at this year's National Bingo Caller of the Year awards ceremony.
Best known for her stellar portrayal of evil Stephanie Stokes in Emmerdale, Lorraine will interview each of the regional champs and then present the coveted trophy to one lucky caller who will hold the National Bingo Caller of the Year title until November 2008.
The regional champions, who have already been through several rounds of rigorous competition to earn their places in the final, are now gearing up for the big day which will be held on Sunday 25th November at the Mecca Club in Wood Green, north London.
Six finalists will compete for the title by demonstrating their "showmanship" skills on stage from 13:15 GMT with the final announcement coming from Lorraine at 15:10 GMT, according to National Bingo.
Ms Chase, who is originally from Luton, has toured the nation with various theatre companies and was originally a model before moving into acting.
However, her stint as celebrity host at this year's National Bingo Caller of the Year awards could be her most challenging role yet, as she will have to watch the six talented callers from around the UK fight it out for the title.
