By Sarah Smithon Monday, 31 Mar 2008 A big bingo winner from Welwyn Garden City says that she was "absolutely stunned" to win £32,000 at the end of last week.
The 50-year-old, who wishes to remain anonymous, struck lucky at the Gala Bingo club in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, where she has been a member for two years.
She told the National Bingo: "I was gobsmacked to win…Everyone in the club was clapping and saying 'well done' but I just sat there in a daze."
The lucky lady added that she plans to spend some of the money on taking her entire family on holiday to Fuerteventura.
"I'm also going to buy a brand new car, hopefully an Astra, because I've never been able to afford one before. My mum bought my last car for me and my daughter is going to have it now," she said.
The woman, who has been playing bingo for over a decade, has four children and two grandchildren.
According to the National Bingo, over three million people play bingo at least twice a week in the UK.
Furthermore, eight per cent of the UK population – ten per cent of all women and five per cent of all men – play bingo.
