By Sarah Smithon Monday, 14 Jan 2008 A woman in Ramsgate has kicked off 2008 to a good start by winning £10,000 playing the bingo.
The 55-year-old was playing the game at the Crown Bingo Club in Margate on New Year's Eve with her two daughters when she won.
After completing a full house in 47 numbers she shared the National Bingo Game prize of £30,000 with two other players that evening in Lincolnshire and Wrexham, who completed a full house in as many numbers.
She told the National Bingo: "My daughters were jumping around when it was announced I had won but I was just shocked…It's still hard to believe."
The luck lady, who wishes to remain anonymous, has three children and four grandchildren and has been playing the bingo for 17 years once a week at the Crown Club, which she has been a member of for six years.
She will share the money with her two daughters and also plans to treat her son as well as buy a laptop computer.
Duty manager at the bingo club that evening, Paul Thorn, said: "What a fantastic start to the year for her and the club.
"Everyone was delighted for her and clapped and cheered when we announced how much she had won. I am sure this is only the first of many big wins here in the coming months."
