A Mecca Bingo establishment in South Shields in the north-east of England has raised 4,000 for children's charity Whizz-Kidz.
The bingo hall was set the target of bringing in 3,500 by the end of the year, but has moved past that mark in recent weeks, reports the Shields Gazette.
Furthermore, this figure could increase as there is still over a month to go until 2008 comes to an end.
Whizz-Kidz provides specialised wheelchairs for disabled youngsters across the UK and Mecca Bingo venues across the country have been helping the cause throughout the course of 2008.
Gavin Lee, manager at the Mecca Bingo hall, told the newspaper: "I'd like to personally thank all of our club members who generously donated to the cause as well as say a big thank you to my fellow team members."
Mecca Bingo was also in the news this week after it revealed the results of a new survey.
According to the numbers game firm, X-Factor judge and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole is the UK's most inspirational woman.
