Bingo 'to rebuild community spirit'

Running bingo games is one of the methods a charity in Bedfont, Feltham is using to rebuild community spirit.

According to the Hounslow Chronicle, the Elizabeth Jane Jones organisation is aiming to improve communication at the town's Fairholme Estate by providing residents with subsidised numbers game sessions, among other events.

Cheap coffee mornings and trips to the seaside have also been mooted.

The flats at Fairholme are occupied by older people who cannot afford to purchase their own property.

Commenting on the residents, the charity's chief executive Christopher Round told the newspaper: "They've worked all their lives and have a little savings but are priced out of the housing market."

He added that Elizabeth Jane Jones tries to offer "a tranquil community" where they can live and have a social network.

Organising bingo events is also a good way of raising money for charity, according to numbers game portal Bingowinnings.co.uk.
