Grant to be used to buy bingo PA system

A public address (PA) system is the first bit of equipment one day centre in the West Midlands will buy with a recent grant that has been presented to them - and it is in aid of bingo.

Birmingham International Airport has handed St Leonards Day Centre in Marston Green 1,500 - and the venue needs a system that will allow them to read out the bingo numbers to its members and guests.

The Birmingham Mail reports that a new computer and a set of wheelchairs will also be purchased with the money.

Andy Holding, Birmingham International Airport's community affairs manager, told the publication: "This Community Trust Fund grant once again highlights the wide range of projects the scheme is supporting."

The airport is "particularly delighted" that a venue offering a "priceless service" can be honored in this way, he added.

This news highlights how bingo is important for bringing people together.

Bingo via the internet provides chat-rooms to foster this community spirit.
