In connection with bingo, no news IS NOT good news. We need new measures taken and an activation of gaming and bingo markets both in the UK and in the rest of Europe. However, new developments in the bingo policy for next year were announced some weeks ago in Spain in connection with online gaming and bingo rooms. The Spanish Undersecretary of Finance and Economy has confirmed that 2009 will see big changes in the law of the Spanish community of Valencia with regard to the game of bingo in that area. The Undersecretary stated that the Spanish authorities are planning to lower down the taxation of bingo games in that community at a certain moment in 2009, which may affect the rest of Spain as well. Currently, the taxation of this game is located at 26%, but it would be decreased to just 23% - a 3-point difference. In addition to this large reduction in taxes associated with bingo games, a series of further changes and measures may be passed too, to try to help this sector to overcome the slump in which it is at the present day.But that is not the only problem this new law of gaming and bingo intends to tackle. According to his statements, the new law will feature a series of measures, which best example is the fact that licenses may be valid for a longer period up to 10 years -, but also the adoption of redemption machines, the minimum distance between bingo rooms, and a new law on advertising the game of bingo. As we have said, these measures are intended to take the sector out of crisis where it is now, but it will also give a big push to other gaming related markets such asonline bingo, as we expect that, once the strict Spanish regulations are loosened, it will be easier for British bingo entrepreneurs to reach the Spanish bingo market.
