A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog saying that if every UK online bingo site hosted one game where the entire proceeds of the game were donated to the Haiti Earthquake fund; what a difference this would make to the fund raising efforts already taking place. At the time this was inspired by a donation from 888 Ladies Bingo to the Oxfam Fund from their �8 888 guaranteed game.
Genie Bingo has taken this fundraising idea and seems to have grown it out of all proportion, but what a brave act this is. They are inviting online bingo fans from across the entire UK to take part in the biggest charity online bingo game. I have to say that for something as huge as this concept, very little time has been given to players to participate, because the game takes place on the 12th February, but still we have to commend their efforts.
Again this has been inspired by the way the whole world has got involved in trying to do their little bit to help repair some of the damage cause by this natural disaster. These always seem to affect underdeveloped countries so badly and some unbelievably sad things have happened.
This special Genie Bingo game is not one actual game it is more like a marathon session which starts at 12 am on the 12th and continuing till 12 midnight the following day. You have to be a member of the site to play, and Genie is giving new members 20 free bingo cards. But 100% of the proceeds from the pay for Play games for the entire session will go to the Red Cross Haitian Relief campaign. Let this inspire you to play, one survivor has been found after being buried for 27 days. Haiti needs more miracles like this!
Great prizes will be available and just as the game of bingo has its roots in fundraising, it is great to see the online bingo community stepping up to the mark to help for this tragedy of massive proportions. Have any of you other UK bingo sites out there got what it takes to beat this?
