Another historic city centre bingo hall is having to stay closed down for good; also for economic reasons, but not for lack of patronage. The Mecca Bingo in All Saints Green, Norwich is a 1930's building in desperate need of repair and the sad part about it all is that the repair bill is just too high. The building was originally temporarily closed earlier this month after engineers found serious structural problems; but now because of the estimated costs of repair; Rank Group have decided although a difficult decision; that they won't be reopening.
In the meantime 27 more bingo jobs will be lost although the company will try to place this staff at other clubs Team leader Gary Vernall, has worked at the same bingo club for 23 years. A free shuttle has been run to the other Mecca Bingo hall in Aylsham Road; this will continue for the foreseeable future. What makes this closure extra sad however is that, it is the last remaining bingo hall to close in the city centre. 80 year old Pamela Hagon has been going three times a week since the club first opened and says it means everything to her.
Now is the time if there was any time for regulars of Mecca Bingo, to acquaint themselves of the wonderful games they can get when they play online. As sad as losing another club is; this could also open new more modern doors to Norwich bingo fans as well as save the elderly bus trips, many of whom now have to take two bus trips each way; which can be extremely tiring. Right now at Mecca online, they are making your "Moments" come true with Ten x 1,000 daily jackpots between 9pm and 11pm, as well as all their other BIG prize money games - this particular promotion lasts till the 8th May and you get up to 50 free for signing up.
