Harper Seven Beckham, Welcome to the World !

Victoria Beckham gave birth to her Harper Seven Beckham, her first daughter, on Sunday at the Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.

There's been so much speculation over the name that David and Victoria would choose for their newborn baby girl. A very happy David took to his facebook page to post a statement that read "I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham. She weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz and arrived at 7.55 this morning, here in LA. Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister xx."

So, another unusual choice from the Beckhams! Everybody is already debating over the reasons they might have picked the name Harper Seven. Lots expected David and Victoria to name their daughter after a place they loved; in the same way their eldest boy Brooklyn was named after the place he was conceived.

Victoria's Stylist friend Sally Lyndley added to the speculation by tweeting "congratulations on gorgeous baby Beverly!!! X" - which would have been a very plausible choice for the new baby Beckham.

Most are guessing that the inspiration for the name "Seven" came from 7 being David's number when playing football for Manchester United and the England team. Plus, Harper Seven was born at 7.55 in the morning, in the seventh month of the year, weighing 7lbs 10oz!

However, although Harper is a pretty popular name in America, no-one really knows why the Beckhams decided on this.

Celeb friends of the happy parents have been busy tweeting their congratulations. Ex spice girl Mel B tweeted: "congrats!!! Yipeee another spice baby is born, damn it wish it was me this AM cos I feel like I'm about to POP!" (Mel B is expecting her third chils at the moment)
Emma Bunton said "Big kiss to @victoriabeckham can't wait to meet your gorgeous little girl!"
And Lord Alan Sugar tweeted: 'Congrats to Beckhams on the birth of their new baby girl.'

David and Victoria married in 1999 have already have three boys - Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, five. So it's no surprise they opted for a name like Harper Seven rather than something more traditional.

It's definitely a bit of a celeb trend we think. Remember when Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow called their children Apple and Moses? Whilst Fifi Trixibelle, Peaches Honeyblossom, Pixie and Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily were named by Bob Geldof and Paula Yates.

What do you think? Do you like the more unusual baby names? Or would you prefer something a little less less "out there"? Let us know - post your comments below!
